Children's luggage is specially designed for children's backpacks, schoolbags or trolley luggage, generally refers to children under 14 years of age to use luggage products. Compared with the adult use of luggage has a set of more stringent quality requirements, then theChildren's Luggage InspectionWhat are the criteria and methodology?
One,Classification and applicable standards of children's luggage
Children's luggage is divided into two main categories based on age of use:
Bags for children under 6 years of age in category Ⅰ.
Class II bags for children aged 6 years and above to under 14 years old.
This categorization determines different levels of safety requirements, with Class I products having more stringent safety requirements due to the younger age of the user.
China's current core standard is GB/T 41002-2022 "General Technical Specification for Children's Luggage", which was formally implemented on October 1, 2022, and is the main basis for the production, inspection and supervision of children's luggage. In addition, a series of related standards need to be met, including:
GB 20400, GB 21550, GB 31701, GB 18401 and other standards on material safety
GB 6675.2-2014 "Toy Safety Part 2: Mechanical and Physical Properties" in the related requirements
Hygienic and ergonomic provisions in WS/T 585-2018 Hygienic Requirements for School Bags for Primary and Secondary School Students
For imported and exported products, it is also necessary to comply with the standards of the destination country or region, such as the restriction requirements for chemical substances under the European Union's REACH regulation.
Two,Core standard requirements

Three,Inspection Methods and Processes
(i) Sampling methods
Children's luggage inspection usually use sampling test:

IV. Determination and processing of inspection results
According to the test results, the product is divided into two categories: qualified and unqualified, of which unqualified can be divided into:
1. serious flaw::
Safety hazards that may cause injury to children, such as the risk of small parts falling off, dangerously sharp edges, excessive levels of hazardous substances, etc.
Serious non-compliance with major performance indicators, such as insufficient seam strength, tie rod breakage, etc.
Seriously defective products are judged to be unqualified, and are not allowed to leave the factory or sales
2. major flaw::
Defects that affect the function of the product but do not constitute a potential safety hazard, such as unsmooth zippers, wheel jamming, etc.
The main defective products need to be reworked and repaired, after re-inspection and qualified before leaving the factory
3. minor flaw::
Slight defects that do not affect the use of the product safety and the main function, such as minor jumps in secondary parts, minor color difference, etc.
Depending on the number and severity of defects, they can be judged as satisfactory or requiring rectification
Upon completion of the inspection, a detailed inspection report should be issued, including.
Basic Product Information
Inspection based on standards
sampling
Various test results
Description of nonconforming items and photographic evidence
Consolidated findings
For unqualified products, rework, repair or scrap treatment should be carried out according to the report requirements to ensure that the product meets the standard requirements before entering the market.
Children's luggage inspection work is a great responsibility, the inspector must be strictly in accordance with the standard requirements, meticulous and conscientious to carry out each inspection to ensure that each product can provide children with a safe and comfortable experience.
